Quickfire Questions: Bird Shoes.
Bird Shoes is comprised of Robin Clark (Vocals & Guitar) & James Gordelier (drums). It was a busy 2018/2019 for Bird Shoes, they had multiple well received releases and played some great shows with the likes of We Are Scientists, Whenyoung & Lady Bird as well as a headline show in their hometown of Bournemouth. After this years halt to live shows, they have been away working on new music, the first of which was finally released at the end of October. We caught up with Robin to discuss all things Bird Shoes.
Congratulations on the new single! Are you glad to finally have “Haha” out in the world?
We are so happy to finally have it out in the world. Its been a project that started before (the first) lockdown so it feels great to come out the other end with a bang.
Do you think music videos and visual accompaniments to your music are important, it seems like something you take very seriously?
Yeah definitely, I think its important to portray whatever message we are expressing in all its entirety in order to hopefully convert the listeners that wouldn’t have necessarily taken any notice if they just heard the music.
Even though live shows were sadly out of the question, did you both manage to continue writing this year at least? Can we expect to hear more from Bird Shoes following this release?
We have SO much ready to release so yeah you can expect to see a lot more from us!
Quickfire Questions:
How did you meet?
I (Robin) met James through being friends with James’s cousin. We’ve both played in bands in and around the Bournemouth area since we were in our early teens.
What influences your songs both sonically and lyrically?
I think the soul of any good music inspires us, something you can’t help but bop your head to. Lyrically we love anything that’s poetic in its delivery and challenges the listener, either that or simple catchy bangers.
Do either of you have any other talents?
I’m a tattoo artist (@birdshoestattoos) and James is only good at drumming, but he’s REALLY good so it doesn’t matter!
Favourite movies?
True romance, The Green Mile and A Place Beyond The Pines.

A pair of Joggers, booze, crisps and headphones.
